fro yo lol

Like every other sorostitute, the mass arrival of froyo has ushered in a new line of meal philosophy: eat a big bowl of tart froyo and fruit toppings for the healthiest, tastiest (and a bit sweet) meal. Could the Special K diet become the Froyo diet. YES PLEASE.  At 39 cents an ounce and 100 calories a serving, froyo spells GET THE MEDIUM-SIZED BOWL in any girl's mind. And it has probiotics (good for UTIs)...how yup. I just sold myself. Needless to say, I've been twice in the last two days.

Added bonus: watching the high schoolers congregate and old people marvel at the self-serve setup.

Don't even bother googling calories in tart froyo...Then you'd just be a sorostitute cliche.

You should watch out for the added sugar in other flavors and sugary toppings. But who am I to talk?  I'll leave the wordsmithiness to Her Campus: Is Fro-Yo Making You Flabby?

Oxford Comma: Shoe Edition

NY trend just hitting Williamsburg: OXFORDS!

Love them paired with straight-leg jeans or dresses and skirts.  They're playful without being garrishly girly.  I've actually been on the lookout for a pair of comfy, not-too-cute Oxfords for years.  I'm sad to say I couldn't fully commit to putting a pair of menswear inspired shoes on my feet until half of the women in NYC were doing the same. LAME. But now that I've committed, so many options:

101 sale at Neiman
To lace or to not lace? Haven't come up with a conclusive answer. BUT the mix of suede and leather is interesting (good interesting) and wingtip detailing is rarely a bad thing.

Now that's something Vampire Weekend would readily endorse.

Everytime I eat a sandwich from Swem (both times)...

I want to vom all over the library. My body rejects the library and all its subpar food from Mews. And its subpar backwards name.

Cheers to a week without 9ams, problem sets or all nighters (the bad kind)!
Can I get a pina colada with a side of prep?

Ducks in the Rain

When you see a boy in duck boots, you know his mom still buys his clothing. Cutteeeee....but lately I've been seeing them everywhere, which makes me think that some splash happy boys have been perusing the LL Bean site by themselves. Something practical from LL Bean becoming cool, esp among the frat/srat crowd...NOVEL.
LL Bean mens duck boots
LL Bean has been making duck boots for almost 100 yrs – time for this design to move up the food chain. Designers like Marc Jacobs, Tory Burch have taken a nod from the rugged classics company in the past few seasons.  Hers and his duck boots? Yes please!
Tommy Fall 2010

Unlike Timberlands, frat boys aren't pretending to be something they're not when they wear duck boots. So frat stars, ditch the works boots and embrace your preppy WASP-y side self and lace up those duck boots.

Backpack Predicament

Nothing ruins a campus-cutesy outfit like a backpack. I especially love when I see my friend M in a cute dress and tights and boots...and then I see the monstrosity that is her LL BEAN storm blue Loch Ness monster imposing on her back and otherwise pushing her lovely outfit into my periphery. It is a true travesty.

Even worst: the two bag-offenders. Yes, I know you're taking 18 credits and president of 5 clubs and you're doing cancer research and starting a non-profit and so you have to carry all your various outfit changes and very smart-looking books.  How about working on your bag situation?

I love this first Gucci bag. I've always loved white bags...what better way to usher in spring?
This neutral Anya Hindmarch will go with anything...
Although both bags are a bit outside of my current bag budget of...zero dollars and zero cents, I'm loving the idea of carrying a smaller bag with room for your laptop or notebook, a book, and organizer. I'm not super productive when I carry stuff for 10 different tasks and find myself calm and more mentally collected if I have a set of doable tasks immediately in my beautiful leather shoulder bag. Cheers to simplicity and luscious leather!

Pretend to live in the 60s for just 99 cents!

Today, I noticed Mews was carrying Peace Tea.  So I tried the razzleberry tea...it's a huge can for 99 cents.  The ingredients are brewed tea, sugar, citric acid, natural flavors, and sucralose...not bad!

The tea tasted fine and is one drink from Mews that isn't a rip, but the can artwork is laughable.  Phrases like "don't tread on me" "true freedom comes with great responsibility" "we must think for ourselves" and "we are in this together" decorate the tall can.  I guess it pleases my inner libertarian, but gotta say I don't really have an inner hippie.  The artwork is reminiscent of a Vietnam protest...is this supposed to appeal to me or my ex-hippie parents?

Maybe, Swem is just trying to send me a subliminal message to quit school and go smoke weed in my parents' basement....

Hunter Update

Yesterday, it was rainy so naturally I walked around with my eyes glued to the ground...so many cute rainboots and so many different colored Hunter's!  I saw a girl rocking a pair of adorable kids' rainboots that had the pull-on handles and eyes popping out of the front (I wish I had smaller feet, oh not so Asian).

I love my new yellow Hunter's, especially after waiting to get the correct size (FYI they run about a size big).  Today, I saw multiple pairs of the silver ones.  Good call, happy sport: they're not as likable in person.  Saw the glossy violet ones that I had been lusting after, and the color is more than lust-worthy.  I understand why they are sold out everywhere.  Where did that girl find her pair?!

Also saw light blue ones, which surprised me, are extremely cute.  If you want color, but don't want something so loud, check the light blue out.

Hunter out!

Sunny, Brown Boots, and Nautical Stripes

Its in the seventies and perfect spring weather in Williamsburg!  Bring out the skirts, sandals, sundresses!

I've seen a lot of wintery pieces paired with spring staples.  A pair of brown boots with a sundress or skirt is my new favorite spring look!

Nautical stripes have also been everywhere.  In my opinion, they're a great alternative to obvious florals.

But it hasn't all been pretty.  I know it's sunny and seventy, but please lay off the halter tops.  I generally don't like halters, but at least wait for a more reasonable month to wear them!

Leave the library and change your pants!

To the girl I saw walking out of Swem:

I'm sorry I stared at your feet.  I don't actually have a problem with your feet, but I protest the space between your feet and your pants.  Your lightwash, highwater flares paired with white flip flops aren't the best look for you on any day, let alone a cold, drizzly one.

I may have an aversion to flares because I was never alive in the 70s, but highwaters were never a trend in any decade I'm aware of.  Please replace with Seven's Dojo Flip Flop Jeans!

Personally, I hope the flare trend doesn't make a full comeback.

Forecast: cloudy with a sprinkling of bare chest

Today was cloudy, drizzly, in the 50s, and generally miserable.

If I was a boy (Beyonce!), naturally I'd run shirtless in this weather.  Maybe the boy I saw running shirtless wanted to flaunt his nonexistent tan from spring break...

To that boy: I'm sorry I stared at your chest.  I wasn't staring at your boyish girth, but your stupidity (which was staring right back at me from your bare, bare chest).  Enjoy your cold and continued paleness.

Spotted at WM: Purple NOOO!

Mid-calf purple stiletto heels with buckles paired with....
(can it get worst?)
slightly different purple-colored tights.
Oh, no!

That's a Little Short...

Spotted on campuses across the country (I'm hoping not across the world, let me continue to believe that Europeans have higher taste levels than us Americans):

Supply and Demand of Plaid

During my Microecon class, I noticed a girl wearing a horrendous purple and blue plaid shirt.  On her laptop, was a browser of AE. And she was looking at plaid shirts. Isn't one enough?!

Thank goodness I didn't see her whip out a credit card, or it might have called for a mid-class intervention!

Hopefully, the demand for plaid will once again be reduced to lumberjacks and supply will follow suit.  This means that girls in purple-blue-plaid will have to search a little further than two-lettered website for their quick fix of ugliness.
