To the Virgins, to make most of time

GATHER ye rosebuds while ye may,
Old Time is still a-flying:
And this same flower that smiles to-day
To-morrow will be dying.

The glorious lamp of heaven, the sun,
The higher he 's a-getting,
The sooner will his race be run,
And nearer he 's to setting.

That age is best which is the first,
When youth and blood are warmer;
But being spent, the worse, and worst
Times still succeed the former.

Then be not coy, but use your time,
And while ye may, go marry:
For having lost but once your prime,
You may for ever tarry.

-Robert Herrick

Another one of my favorite poems, some girls do not like it because of the allusion to guys and sex, but I love the carpe diem theme. I feel like as freshmen in college this is the most important time in our lives to "seize the day". No other time in our life can we live the lifestyle we do. The freedom and opportunities will never come again. I try not to forget this everyday -- strive to take every opportunity you get, do not miss out on things, you never know how much fun you can have or the memories, friends and experiences you can have. Do not let anything hold you back and make it your goal everyday day to seize the day and make most of time before we all get old. Next thing we know we will be seniors and life really hits you then, live with no regrets!

Carpe Diem!
